Hand-Painted Silk

A Fiber artist friend of mine told me that since I liked to paint patterned backgrounds on my food paintings, I should try painting on silk.  I fell in love with the rich dyes and the challenge of making my own designs and patterns on silk. I am inspired by textile patterns and the flowing forms of the Arts and Crafts Movement.

I've enjoyed creating commissioned pieces that include recreating the look of neon in silk!

I use either the luxurious silk charmeuse which has a lovely satin finish or silk crepe de chine
that is light weight and has a wonderful drape.

All my hand-painted silk scarves and shawls are perfect for wearing, but I have had clients buy them for wall-hangings.

Unless the piece has a fringe added, all are hand washable.  Scarves and shawls with fringe should be dry-cleaned.
